- Business Development

Karen Trimble is a sales and marketing specialist. She helps clients boost revenues and profits by creating and implementing new initiatives that mesh classic marketing strategy with the advantages of new technology. Her clients gain improved business efficiency and competitive advantage - these translate into bigger bottom lines.

Karen has over 20 years of success working for companies ranging from start-ups to the Fortune 500. A citizen of Canada and the US, Karen has operating expertise in both business cultures.

Karen's most recent top-level position was as a Senior Consultant at IBM Global Services where, among other accomplishments, she developed and implemented a systematic method for clients to utilize in evaluating all web-related spending from a strategic value and ROI perspective.

Prior to joining IBM, Karen was in brand management at several blue-chip consumer package goods companies including Borden, Beecham (now GlaxoSmithKline) and Standard Brands (now Nabisco). She led the strategic positioning of nationally advertised consumer products and had bottom line responsibility for brand performance. Among her achievements, while responsible for over 54% of corporate revenue at a leading consumer products company, Karen repositioned the flagship brand, reversing brand share decline in the face of low priced competitors. New packaging, promotion, advertising etc. justified a 30% price premium for consumers, resulting in a sustainable competitive advantage being gained for a "cash cow" brand.

Her key skills include strategic planning, marketing plan development, internet strategy, business case preparation, market development, marketing research, advertising, promotion, and project management.

Karen has a BA in Economics and a MBA in Marketing and Policy from York University, Toronto.
